This course is for everyone from novices on trans identity to those with decades of life experience. Rather than simply offering a “trans 101,” this class pushes participants to the next level of congregational welcome, relationship-building, and skills-building. It counters mainstream narratives about who trans people are. supports understanding of non-binary identities, and employs a deeply intersectional approach.

Participants are given monthly packets which provide background about the spiritual practice, tease out how the practice speaks to universal hungers, and offers options about how participants can engage the practice in their own life. Care is given to avoid cultural misappropriation. Group members pick one of the options and do it prior to their facilitated group meeting. Packets also contain reflection questions for participants to debrief their experience personally and with their groups.

The 9th Season of 2nd Friday Film Series kicks off Sept 11 with the screening of 𝘑𝘦𝘴𝘶𝘴 𝘙𝘦𝘷𝘰𝘭𝘶𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯 a 2023 film depicting the true story of the expansive growth of a church during the hippie movement of the 1960-70s through leaning how to be welcoming.

Curiosity is that very human trait that fortunately, never leaves us – it never fails to inspire us to seek a deeper understanding of ourselves and of this extravagantly beautiful world. As we exercise our curiosity, what are the moral consequences?

How can political actions help build a more compassionate world? Four KUUF members traveled to Washington, DC in July to advocate for just that. Their lobbying efforts included hand delivering letters written by KUUF members and friends. Come and learn about the responses of our Representative Emily Randall and Senators Murray and Cantwell to the requests you wrote in your letters and to our RESULTS requests to promote health education, nutrition, housing and the end of poverty.

While it’s called Creativity Matters, these are not “art groups”. Participants are given project-based packets, built around a monthly theme. For Creativity Matters this packet contains creative exercises for group members to work on prior to their group meeting. During the group meeting there is sharing and reflection.

The Autumnal Equinox approaches and will be celebrated with ritual, drumming, and food! Saturday, September 19 in the Sanctuary bring an intention to acknowledge the balance of day & night for the equinox along with a savory or sweet dish to share...and drums, if you have any!
